Links that travel fast

Ampula Africa ("we", "us", "our") operates the URL shortening service at short.ampula.africa. This policy explains what data we collect, why, and how we protect it.

What we collect

• The original URL you submit for shortening
• The short code we assign to that URL
• Aggregate click counts per short link (no personal identifiers)
• Standard server logs: IP address, browser type, referrer, and timestamp — retained for up to 30 days for security purposes
• A first-party cookie to remember your cookie consent preference

What we do NOT collect

• We do not require account registration
• We do not sell or share your data with advertisers
• We do not track individuals across websites
• We do not store payment information

Cookies

We use two categories of cookies:

• Essential — required for the service to function (session management, CSRF protection, consent preference)
• Analytics — anonymous, aggregated usage data to understand traffic patterns. Only set if you click "Accept all"

You can withdraw analytics consent at any time by clearing your browser cookies.

Data retention

Short links and their aggregate click counts are stored indefinitely unless you request deletion. Server logs are purged after 30 days.

Your rights

• Request access to any personal data we hold about you
• Request deletion of your short links
• Opt out of analytics cookies at any time

Acceptable use

You may use this service to shorten URLs for lawful purposes. You must not shorten links that:

• Contain malware, phishing pages, or other harmful software
• Distribute spam or unsolicited commercial messages
• Host or promote illegal content under Tanzanian or international law
• Infringe on the intellectual property rights of others
• Promote violence, hate speech, or harassment

Service availability

We strive for high availability but do not guarantee uninterrupted service. We reserve the right to suspend or terminate access to any link that violates these terms without prior notice.

Link removal

We may deactivate short links at our discretion, particularly if they are reported for abuse. If your link was removed in error, contact us and we will review it promptly.

Limitation of liability

Ampula Africa is not responsible for the content of destination URLs. We provide a technical redirect service only. Users access destination content at their own risk.

Modifications

We may update these Terms at any time. Continued use of the service after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.

Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the United Republic of Tanzania. Disputes shall be resolved in the courts of Dar es Salaam.
